tall and skinny
we had the kids' 2 month and 18 month checkups today. Caleb did great, although he cried about getting a shot whenever anyone would make a move. of course he's done with his shots for a while, but he obviously thought there was one coming. poor kid. he's still solidly in the 50th percentile for weight and off the chart for height, just like his daddy.
Alice got her share of shots, much to her displeasure. and despite our best guess, she really hasnt gained any weight or length in the last month (just 1 oz), which we thought was more than a little concerning. but hooray for Dr. Jack, who is the nicest and most laid-back doctor we've ever known. she wasnt too concerned about her not gaining, since she shot up relatively fast her first month. and based on all the usual questions they ask, she's doing just fine developmentally (she smiles and coos and waves her arms and recognizes our faces, etc). so we'll stay the course and continue fighting off the thrush (yes, it's back in mama, but baby seems ok this time around). mama's having a bit of a hard time with thrush and back struggles, but she's determined to keep at it. we're all very thankful and proud of her.
as I keep reminding myself these days: I guess we make skinny babies. that's ok, because they are darn cute that way, if I do say so myself.

So you guys see Dr. Jack? We see Dr. Spraggins in the same practice and we love her. Galen Peds is the best group of doctors I've ever seen, bar none. I love that they don't freak you out over things that don't really matter. Maybe we'll bump into you guys there sometime.
cool. yeah Dr. Spraggins happened to be on the rounds for both Caleb and Alice on their 1st day checkups. and Dr. Jack and nurse Artie are so great and indeed well-balanced (tho Dr. Trigar seems a little high-strung, but we've only seen him once).
now and then we think of you and Clara when we think about our skinny little girl, as we're quite impressed how fast she's growing. isnt it amazing how different kids can be?
There is nothing wrong with skinny healthy kids (not that I would know what it is like to have one)! I'm continuing to pray for Michelle and this thrush - God is able to heal her completely! May God give her the strength to endure, and have joy, in the meantime.
How is it that Caleb is done with his shots? I am pretty sure that Jaron still has more shots to get at his 18 month checkup in a couple of weeks.
I guess our dr does them on a slightly different schedule? you should call and come by sometime, as everyone is healthy again.
You're not alone in the skinny baby department. Eden is also just a little peanut. She's almost 9 months and I'm guessing weighs 16-17 lbs? Babies that are 6 months younger weigh the same. No worries. They slim down again when they start RUNNING!
We make skinny babies too. Praying for you guys with the thrush and all.
